Twisted Diamond Engagement Rings

A twisted or crossover band splits the shank into two strands that wind around each other before meeting at the centre stone. The effect is movement — the eye follows the spiral rather than stopping at the stone — and the two strands can carry different treatments, one plain gold and one pavé-set, for contrast within a single ring.
Practically, a twisted shank is harder to resize than a plain one, because cutting and rejoining the band means re-forming the spiral evenly on both sides. It is worth getting the size right at the outset. The curved shoulders also nest naturally against a contoured wedding band, which is why twisted designs are often bought as part of a set rather than alone.
