East West Diamond Engagement Rings
East-west set rings turn the center stone on its side for a fresh, contemporary silhouette that stands out from traditional settings. Available in solid gold with Lab-Grown, Natural, or Moissanite stones.
An east-west setting turns an elongated stone ninety degrees so its length runs across the finger instead of along it. Nothing about the stone changes — the same oval, pear, emerald or marquise is simply rotated — but the ring reads completely differently, closer to a cuff or a signet than a traditional solitaire.
The orientation suits some shapes better than others. Emerald and marquise cuts look most at home turned, because their straight lines sit parallel to the knuckle. It also lowers the profile: a horizontal stone sits flatter and is less likely to catch, which makes east-west a practical choice as well as a stylistic one. Shorter fingers tend to suit the look least, as the crosswise line can shorten the hand.
