Yellow gold sits closest to the natural colour of gold, and the karat decides how deep that colour looks: 18K reads noticeably warmer and richer than 9K, while 9K is harder and more scratch-resistant. It is the oldest choice for an engagement ring and the easiest to match to heirloom pieces. Because every ring is handcrafted to order, you pick the karat as well as the colour. Each design can be set with a natural diamond, a lab grown diamond or moissanite, so the metal and the stone stay separate decisions.
