Claratas Pear and heart toi et moi diamond ring

Heart Diamond Engagement Rings

The heart cut is a timeless symbol of romance, faceted to capture maximum brilliance in a distinctly sentimental shape. Shop our heart cut engagement rings in solid gold, with Lab-Grown, Natural, or Moissanite stones.

A heart is technically a pear with a cleft cut into the rounded end, and it is the hardest common shape to cut well. The two lobes must match in size and curve, the cleft must be sharp and centred, and the point must align with it exactly — any error reads as a lopsided heart rather than as a minor symmetry flaw.

Because the outline needs room to be legible, hearts are generally more convincing above about three quarters of a carat; below that the shape can read simply as round from arm's length. The cleft and the point both need protection in the setting. Five or six prongs are usual, with a V-prong over the tip.
