White Gold Pear Engagement Rings

A pear is a round brilliant at one end and a point at the other, which gives it a direction: point toward the fingernail lengthens the finger. The point needs protecting, so a pear should be set with a V-prong or chevron cap over the tip, the corner where a stone chips first. White gold is the quietest setting for that: a cool, neutral metal gives the stone no color to borrow, so the outline stays crisp and the point reads as part of the stone rather than the metal around it. It also keeps a lower color grade looking whiter. Symmetry matters more on a pear than on any other shape, so check that the two shoulders mirror each other.
