White Gold Oval Engagement Rings

An oval keeps most of a round brilliant's sparkle but covers more finger, which is why it looks larger than a round of the same carat weight. White gold works differently from the warm metals: alloyed for a cool, neutral tone, it gives the stone no color to borrow, so the outline of the oval reads crisply and the stone looks whiter by contrast. That makes it the safer choice when the center stone sits in the lower color grades, and the obvious one for a hidden halo or pavé band, where accent stones and metal should look like one surface. On any oval, check the bowtie across the center and the length-to-width ratio, usually 1.30 to 1.50.
